Reading, Writing and Such
Hi! My name is Bruce Glass. I guess you would call me an old dude who decided to restart his writing craft after decades of absence. The beginnings of my writing efforts began in high school. Study hall time was often used for writing. Serious efforts of writing for publication didn’t start until I was married with two children and in the Air Force. Eventually, I had stories published in a couple of children’s church magazines and in a church journal.
Then, when I was stationed at Malmstrom AFB, MT, I signed on as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the base Boy Scout troop in which my son was a patrol leader. During one particularly difficult time I decided I didn’t want to write for such a group that could be so obnoxious, so I stopped and never attempted again until I became fascinated with the idea of writing picture books. By now I was 70 and working for an e-commerce warehouse. I joined the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and became involved with a couple of critique groups. The rest, as they say, is history.
That is my oddball journey in writing. At the present I am residing in Middletown, OH with my loving wife, Edie. We are closing in on our 53rd anniversary. In our life together we have lived many places–Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma, Montana, Alaska, California, and Italy. We have two children and two grandchildren. I have worked as a steelworker, mailhandler (USPS), convenience store clerk, USAF security and command post controller, computer salesman, civilian security guard, pastor, and warehouse material handler.
